Adrenaline junkies, this is your weekend.

This Friday and Saturday, some of the fastest and loudest machines on the planet will be in Kindersley for the Kindersley Dirt Drags and Truck and Tractor Pulls at the East-Forty racing complex just five miles east of Kindersley on Highway 7.

Drag racers will come from all over Western Canada and deep in the United States to take a run at the 200-foot track, including Kindersley’s own Good to Go Racing team, who will be racing the Perfect Storm running at 3,600 horsepower thanks to the Blown Alcohol 521 cubic inch Brad Anderson Hemi; and of course, Second Chance, a blown alcohol car that driver Shayne Neigum will try to set a new record in, trying to run the length of the track in less than two – count them, two – seconds. Meaning the car will hit around the 135-mph mark.

Neigum, one of the main organizers of the event, says that he’s excited for the event, especially having to take last year off.

“Obviously it’s very exciting. There will be lots of big action and lots of horsepower,” he said. “It is really great to bring this level of entertainment to Kindersley. To see this magnitude of a show you would have to travel a thousand miles or more.”

The event was put on hold last year.

“So many businesses and people were hurting and we didn’t want to bother them with sponsorship. We took the year off to kind of re-energize and just by all the hype and excitement that I’ve heard around town … it’s going to be good,” he said.

It’s going to be a weekend full of loud entertainment, starting with the truck and tractor pulls that will see some huge tractors sporting horsepower in the 6,000-plus range. There will also be qualifying runs for the shootout.

All of the action begins at 6 p.m. Friday.

Saturday, the finals of the truck/tractor pulls and the shootout will take place beginning at 3 p.m. The day will also feature CMRO races featuring action in all classes from four-wheel drives to blown-alcohol cars.

If that isn’t enough, there will be two cabarets starting with Mitch Larock and the 4:54 band on Friday and the Dusty Mules on Saturday.

“Friday night people will be looking for something to do, so we decided to add a cabaret Friday night as well,” said Neigum.

For the kids, there will be bouncy castles Friday night and a loonie dig on the weekend, as well as monster truck rides on the back of Jurassic Attack.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the STARS Foundation.

Neigum would like to thank all the sponsors of the event and those helping to get the track ready, including Brian and Carl Thiessen, Brian Hammel and Mitch Parton.
